John Howe
Any one with a thread gauge... Can anyone confirm the male thread size that the connecting pipe from scavenge pump to bellhouse tank screws on to - I think they are the same at each end. NickD
You didn't say which engine, but the Vx drysump has 5/8 BSP connectors on the hoses with 1/2-5/8 BSP male-male adaptors on the pump & belhhousing.
Peter T
Whice engine? Cross-flow pumps use 1/2" and 5/8" BSP, and on any modern dry sump tanks the threads tend to be Jic (Metric) C7 PWT X-Flow all Steel Life begins at 40(00rpm)
Nick M
I thought JIC fittings were all imperial ?? I've not come across any fittings for my car (fuel injection fittings, dry sump plumbing, etc.) that were metric and they're all JIC (-6 to -12). NickD
JIC threads are imperial (or at least American) UNF threads. BSP threads are still used on many dry sump unions as they are very cheap. The male unions normally have a recessed face on BSP fittings and a projecting (pointed) face on JIC. The JIC sizes(-10 etc) give the nominal bore of the hose in 1/16ths of an inch but the actual fittings have a UNF thread.
