Blatchat email notification

Blokko

Recommended Posts

As I’m sure many people do, I sometimes click on the ‘Check here to be notified by email whenever someone replies to your topic’ option when posting on BC.

When I do this now I don’t get any notification to my Hotmail account (though it has worked fine in the past). I’ve checked the ‘Blocked Senders’ list and there is nothing there that mentions Blatchat.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Could someone provide me with the email address that is used to send out these notifications please, so that I can add it to my safe list?

Can't really answer your question Steve, but the blatmail utility seems a tad unreliable at the moment so your hotmail account may not necessarily be to blame.

I, and I notice others have had to put a call out on the forums because blatmails don't always seem to get through. (It's Colin M at the moment that I'm going to have to *wavey* at) *smile*

I've started filing away the addresses of people I speak to, even if I'm expecting it to be a one off, rather than relying on the blat-post method too much.

Blokko, Blatmails are sent from private.mail@blatchat.com, but have a return address of the person who sent the mail, so that replies get back to the right place.

Notifications are sent from mailsender@blatchat.com.

As I have commented before, Hotmail accepts the mail from Blatchat, but doesn't pass it on to the recipient, so we're all in the dark.

If you can tell me when a message is meant to have been sent, I can check the logs and try to find out what has happened.

Many thanks *thumbup* I can't be more specific than the fact that it was from myself to Colin Mill and it was sent between 12pm and 5pm. I'm don't recall exactly what time on Friday it was sent but I'll try it again now..

BC Site Manager

The problem that I have had is with notifications that someone has replied to a thread rather than direct BlatMail between two BC members. Not sure if both go through the same mechanism technically? It is worth reiterating that both the BlatMail and thread notification functions have worked fine in the past.

What I’d like to do, if it’s not too much bother, is for you to reply again to this post (which I will have selected the ‘Check here to be notified by email whenever someone replies to your topic’

Option). If you can then chase this through to an outgoing email from the BC mail server to my Hotmail account, I’ll then have some ammo to hit the Hotmail support site with. BTW, I’ll add private.mail@blatchat.com and mailsender@blatchat.com to my ‘safe list’ (for both senders and mailing lists) on Hotmail.

I have read in the past that Hotmail are trying to clamp down on spam mail and this site may have got caught up in this dragnet.

Many thanks.

Nothing in my Hotmail account when I got home from BlatChat (but a couple of junk emails that managed to get through).

I’ve raised a call with Bill’s support dept, but not holding out much hope. I got a gmail account when I set up Picassa, so like JACK FLASH I may well change my BC details to point at this email account instead.
