How do you know if 7 has an LSD

Robin,

In theory if you jack up the rear of the car, and turn one wheel, if it has an LSD, the other wheel should turn the same direction. A normal (open) diff should rotate the opposite way.

I have seen cars where this is not the case, but they're rare.

You'll not be able to tell by looking at the diff, they all look the same.

Except the Quaife ATB (I have one on mine) that's getting fairly common - that rotates the opposite way I believe. Best way is pretty much as Robert suggested - do a very hard standing start and feel if one wheel is going or both 😬

Well your set of photographs has made a whole lot of the 'black box' feeling about diffs so much clearer *thumbup*

'Can you hear me running' ......... OH YES and its music to my ears 😬 😬 😬
