robindunscombe
Hi, As subject states - how can you know by looking at the 7's diff if it has an LSD? Rgds, Robin
robert green
The most fun way is dial in about 3000 rpm with a touch of lock, drop the clutch and hold on - if you start to donut you've got one 😬 😬 😬
Willie.
Robin, In theory if you jack up the rear of the car, and turn one wheel, if it has an LSD, the other wheel should turn the same direction. A normal (open) diff should rotate the opposite way. I have seen cars where this is not the case, but they're rare. You'll not be able to tell by looking at the diff, they all look the same. bstark
Except the Quaife ATB (I have one on mine) that's getting fairly common - that rotates the opposite way I believe. Best way is pretty much as Robert suggested - do a very hard standing start and feel if one wheel is going or both 😬 Bob Stark Supersprinter

Bilbo
Michael Well your set of photographs has made a whole lot of the 'black box' feeling about diffs so much clearer 'Can you hear me running' ......... OH YES and its music to my ears 😬 😬 😬 1988 200 bhp, 146 ft lbs, 1700cc Cosworth BD? engineered by Roger King, on Weber's with Brooklands and Clamshell wings, Freestyle Motorsport suspension.
