Big Brother
What is recomended for use in the standard (triumph) calipers? I've been running Green Stuff pads for the last few years and thery have been very good. I've not managed to "cook" them on trackdays (as reported by others) but they do seem to be losing their edge. I feel like I'm having to press the pedal harder than before to stop the car to am looking to upgrade. A quick search of the archives reveals Mintex 1144 as popular. Pagid RS15's also sound very good but are noisy??? and expensive. Also, would new discs make a difference (drilled). Your advice would be appreciated Steve SE7EN-UP! Friends help you move. DohNut
I would say that moving from Green Stuff to 1144 was the best single upgrade I made to my car , It now feels like it is being stopped from the front rather than the rear. [i should in all fairness add that I think I may have slightly contaminated the inner pads of the Green Stuff with grease 😳] Nick
Alex Wong1697456877
Pagid RS14's are expensive but VERY durable. Greenstuff used to last max 2 trackdays and they'd be down to the metal. RS14's are lasting over 10 trackdays for me. I've heard reports of squeeling but mine never have. Pretty good from cold, fine for road use, very good on track. 1144's - never tried them but seem very good value and ECR uses them to very good effect. Tom_C
Another vote for 1144s. Transformed the stopping of my car, and for a silly low price. Cheers Tom FH54WLX see here - UPDATED again
stephen grant
I run RS15's on the front with the standard Triumph calipers; the pads are expensive, but they seem to last forever. Sometimes they squeal a bit, sometimes they are fine, but it's never a big problem, to be honest. Their stopping ability is amazing and they seem to work well from cold... stephen

Big Brother
Sounds like it's a big for Mintex then. I'll give them a go and see what they're like. Thanks all Steve SE7EN-UP! Farmer_Terry
Are both the 1140s and the RS14s road legal? And the original question specified Triumph calipers. Is that what most cars have? mav
The 1144's are road use pads as far as I'm aware. The std brakes on the 7 were from a Triumph.

Scared Was The Sheep
I'd be interested to know where's a good value place to get the MIntex pads as I'm looking at updating my standard pads. Cheers Nick

Ian R
Steve I use Mintex when I changed the discs to cross drilled. They are fine on road and track too. Take mine out for a run, see what you think.... Ian (If you want to go faster, you will have to add lightness!)

7 wonders of the world
1144's must easily be one of the most cost effective upgrades on a 7 Too young to be old !
Sheds Moderator
Look up your local motor factor - this is where your mechanic buys his parts. They will order Mintex bits for you and sell them at very reasonable cost. You are of course "Trade Cash Sales" and get a discount from retail. Pro mechanics get more but they run thousands a month through the account.
