John_Salmon
I am building a 16v vx wet sump, and i can see lots of threads about k series anti-cav. Is it a good idea to fit anti cav to the vx or is it a must to dry sump if i do some track days. The caterham dry sump seems expensive....
EFA
The Caterham wet sump will survive track days at moderate RPM and so long as you do not drive round and round in tight left hand corners as this causes bad oil surge. Check and replace the foam baffle before going on track and every 24 months! A dry sump is reccommended if you are going to exceed sustained 7200rpm. Use a good oil - Comma SynerG 5/40 or Mobil 1 MOTORSPORT 15/50 are reccomended. stevefoster
I have a Caterham foam baffled wet sump and trackday with 021's. I have track day'd with sicks and currently race with slicks too. Avon 7.0 20.0 13's to be precise. The VX XE does not need anti cav. You need SBD's camcover mod and to use Comma SynerG oil. I rev to 7000. If I need wider tyres or more revs then I think a dry sump is next on the shopping list. I have a 36psi oil pressure warning light on a 35W lamp and it never comes on... except on ignition before start up...
garyedwardc
Is the oil pick up not on the right hand-Induction side of the sump Arnie. I suggest this means it's the right hand bends that need restraint
stevefoster
The pick up is pretty much in the middle. I have an old foam baff hanging on the wall.
captain chaos
I know this should be reposted in the for sale section, but sometime ago I advertised a vx caterham dry sump belhousing with some other bits for sale. Just a thought if anyone decides to go down that route.
