chrisddl
We have an 05 plate 2ltr VW golf with 60K miles on the clock. Over about the past year or so it's developed a knocking noise from the front suspension when going over the not so smooth British roads. What puzzles me is that the noise only appears when the car is driven from cold and worse when the ambient temperature is low, the lower the temp the louder it becomes. After a short distance, say a couple of miles, when things have heated up, it sorts itself out and becomes quiet. I've had it in for replacement shocks and upper mounts on the front, but sadly after £260 the noise is still there. I'm wondering if any other Blatchaters have had a similar problem and if yes, what was the cause. Alternatively, any other thoughts on areas to look at would be appreciated. Thanks ChrisL
Stationary M25 Traveller
Broken coil springs are all too common these days, with open ended springs, without a closed loop on the end. Can't explain the hot/cold bit though. ****************** And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking... And racing around to come up behind you again. new link to photos
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted August 31, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted August 31, 2007 Had something similar on a Freelander. Check the bushes on the anti-roll bar and any other "links" on the suspension. Stu. www.superse7ens.co.uk..........the rebuild 😬

Mick Day
*idea*Check the front wings are bolted on properly. Had a similar problem with a 924 in the early eighties: added 2 additional bolts either side near the scuttle, & the problem went away.
