VIN for SVA ?

Paul Bowden

Recommended Posts

I should be getting my SL kit late June and I have arranged 2 weeks off work. I am hoping to have the thing more or less built in that time. I want to arrange my SVA for the following week. I have received the form from the "Vehicle Inspectorate" and want to get it back in pleanty of time. Now the form asks some tricky questions , well they are if you don't already have the kit. First do I need the VIN and secondly what is the date of manufacture of the engine. Oh and while I am asking, what do you put down for body style. , No door coupe? Last silly question, Axle weight, I know the total weight but do I realy need to know the weight on each axle.

As always any help greatly appreciated

paul when you get your kit from caterham you have a pack that will have a

certificate of newness. this will give you all the details you need.

at this stage caterham wont know this untill they put your kit together

I'm just faxing you three sheets.

One is the letter you'll have in your kit which gives a list of what you'll need to register the car

Two is the Caterham example of a V55 form filled in. I telephoned Caterham and you can leave blank most of the boxes, fill in the ones with a ? on the faxed version.

The engine date of manufacture, I put as just the year and you can prove it's new as it's detailed on the certificate of newness you will get with your kit.

Exact cc for a SL is 1585 btw

I'm also faxing a copy of my approval certificate, it shows the max axle design weights. My car is a SL as well so these numbers are correct for you.

Any questions, give me a call 01883 38 1883
