Not sure - most probable reasons in order:

 

1) Cost of trackdays on 15" tyres

 

2) Range of racing rubber available in 13"

 

3) You can spec R500 mags on 13" and save total weight

 

4) Even though the 15" wheels may weigh the same as the std 13" rims in terms of overall weight, since the 13" have the mass closer to the centre of rotation they will effectively still be "lighter" than the 15"'s when you're running. This should in theory still provide superior performance as the car is pulled around less. Imagine the compound rotating difference on the mag R500's....

 

5) Gearing issues? (know sod all about this but I thought I'd put it in to see if someone could explain what they've done to stop the little rascal from doing 200mph in first gear on those 15's)
