What is it?????????????

A gadget that sits between the pedal box and washer bottle. One pipe to plenum, one vent pipe, and one pipe that seems to go off in the direction of the bell housing.

 

I was told this serves no useful purpose, so I may as well get rid of it. I assume I'll have to blank off the pipe to the plenum, but where does the other pipe go???????

Charcoal filter thingy, I think it's right it doesn't do anything, I think the pipe that heads rearward joins up to the filler neck?

I don't think you can block off the pipe heading toward the back of the cars as it is a fuel tank breather, you will need to block off at the plenum though. I think that's right but I will wait to be corrected.

The purpose it serves is to absorb fuel vapour when the car is standing, thus preventing the nasty Bezene Rings from getting into the atmosphere. 😔 When the car is started, it allows air to flow through the charcoal filling, thus sucking the fuel/Benzene into the Plenum wher it can be safely (depending on whether you drive safely) burned.

How useful it is rather depends on your viewpoint
