robmar
How do those with bike engines rig up the reverse light come on either with a reverse box or electric starter motor setup or is one of those MOT items that is only tested if you have it 🤔 rob
blade_runner
Reverse light whats that???? my car has never had one fitted, never had a problem at the mot. Steve Gilberts Blade has one tho, he fitted a micro switch in the transmission tunnel which picks up on the reverse lever on the nova then its thrown. Peter Carmichael
You don't need one. If it is fitted it must be working, but you can as easily just remove it.
Irrelevant
Indeed, don't need one. Quaife reverse box has a reverse switch, dunno about other mechanical ones. Electric reverses are simple to rig up to an electric reversing light.
robmar
excellent - that will be going in the bin then
Molecular--Bob
Was told that there is no mention of reverse light function in the test, fitted or not, but this was a few years ago, so may have changed.
Irrelevant
Molecular--Bob: That's been the case with my Chavalier for the last 3 MOTs . .. i.e. reversing light fitted, never works .. . MOT man says it's OK. Assumed he was wrong though as he contradicts PeterC 😬
k80rum
slight post-hijack.. Is it a legal requirement to have reverse on a road-going BEC? or is it more the case that if it has a reverse function, there must also be a light. I only ask because John Cobb hasn't bothered with any reverse box on his road-going turbo-busa Westfield - he claims the lack of it has only been a problem once. I'm going to have to start learning about BECs. A bike engine is my upgrade path of choice, rather than wringing more power out of my K. The question is; turbo-busa power or become an adopter of the FJR1300 because of the gearbox and see how much can be wrung out of it... 😬 Darren E Website and Emerald maps library Superlight R #54 Edited by - k80rum on 8 Aug 2007 10:24:
Irrelevant
K80RUM: FJR1300 Busa 🥰 . .. Std Busa box is good for 650bhp+ in a 7esque car (FWIW: high ratio 4/5/6 gear kits are not as strong as std gears).
k80rum
Thanks Adam You KNOW you're the guy I'm going to be plaguing with questions when the time comes. 😬 I think there may be a Holeshot turbo-blade lump coming up for sale soon but the 'busa will no doubt be enough to lure me away from the FJR1300's semi-auto box and down the route of the tried-and-tested. I had no idea the busa box was thatsturdy Darren E Website and Emerald maps library Superlight R #
Support Team Shaun_E Posted August 8, 2007 Support Team Share Posted August 8, 2007 Reverse light is not a testable item. Therefore you do not need one and even if you have one it does not have to work. Yellow SL #32 - member of Drowned Rat Racing
