a little more BHP

How much do you want to spend and how far do you want to go? A Supersport upgrade doesn't represent good VFM because you can't take it any further without junking the SS kit. You absolutely need to read Dave Andrews web site about all there is to do regarding K tuning. You don't need to do all the head work yourself. There are kit options for slightly more than the Caterham SS upgrade which will give you a genuine 160-ish bhp and the ability to upgraher if you like.

Ditch the Rover MEMS unit and get an Emerald MD3

then get Emerald to map it for you. Thatr should most likely release an extra say 10 bhp.

The Emerald unit will then allow you to carry out all sorts of upgrades going forward - throttle bodies, cams, head upgrades etc etc. You must read Dave Andrews web page.

Well, putting aside the fact that abirtwisle would like to do the SS upgrade in steps, the SS upgrade costs something like 1500 quid and you cannot upgrade any further without junking the SS cams and ECU. Dave Walker has sources a number of parts and combined them to provide a bolt-on upgrade for (I believe) 1800 quid including delivery and vat. For this you get:

1. Emerald M3DK plus map (for a 1600 or 1800)

2. Pair of cams to suit the hydraulic followers. The cam/pulley locating lugs are slightly "edited" to enable you to install your standard pulleys yet benefit from the more appropriate cam timing that K-tuners have come to acknowledge as being better-than-standard, without having to resort to expensive vernier pulleys.

3. Direct to head TBs (very nice).

4. Airbox to suit TBs which allows you to keep your existing air filter, offers a suitable locator for your standard fuel rail, incorporates a back-plate (this is normally a painful job tyring to get one fit on non-standard Tbs on a Caterham) and keeps overall induction noise to a reasonable level (important if you plan to go on track).

All of the above are available individually, although of course the map supplied would only work with the whole combintation.... One of my locals has recently fitted this kit and found it to give 165bhp on an 1800 SV when properly mapped . Must remember this. Although you get a map supplied, there's no substitute for correct setting up.
