DickS
Just (about) done 500 mile in my SS 1700 xf & have thought about a bit of serviceing. Apprecate any assistance. 1) what is the Halfords part No. for the oil filter? curently have a WL7098 fitted by previous owner. Is it right? 2) Spark plug gaps. Currently have NGK iridium BKR7EIX. Gap is loads morh than a thumb nail! 3) Are there any Grease points I should have a go at? I have an MGB & know where they are but are there any on a 7 Anything else I should do? Got the Wallage "rebuilding & Tuning" book but it dosn't seem to have much info on serviceing. Sorry for the beginners questions as I'm sur eyou have all heard them before. DaveMorris
IIRC BPR6ES for spark plug (NGK) or 7ES if you run th eengine a bit harder Gap ~30 thou is close enough Oil filter - can't remember offhand, but anyting suitable for Ford Mexico I think is o.k. as long as it DOES NOT have the non-return valve fitted. Grease - prop shaft UJ's + grease/oil mix in front trunnions (lots of discussion on what's best here) Dave. X-flow(er) power now resting. Trying Vx for a change. DW
Hi Dick I buy Fram PH966B filters from my local motor factors. I also use NGK B8 ECS spark plugs. Sparkplug gap = 0.025” (0.835mm) Have you got a live axle (LA)? If so worth checking replacing the bushes at the apex of the A-Frame under the diff. These are Y-16. Worth getting a box-full! If LA also worth over-filling the rear axle from the breather on the top. David 1700XF: click here

Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted June 30, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted June 30, 2007 Oil filter part codes from different manufacturers for a 1700 Xflow include Champion C103, FRAM PH2870A, or PH966B Best of luck - Michael.
Graham Perry
And mine uses a Ford EFL500 😬
Drumster
...and mine uses a Fram PH2874, that's because I need a short filter due to the sandwich plate for the oil cooler. The taller oil filter would foul on the nearby chassis tube. Chris Alston C7CAT 1800 Supersprint R248.89 ....and then I jumped in
