Hermit's Island......

Driving home the other evening I heard about this tiny island, near Beachley in the Severn Estuary. Apparently it's known as Hermit's Island. *confused*

It was once owned by the monks of Tintern Abbey; it had a one room "cell".

If a monk at Tintern Abbey was ever caught "bashing the bishop" he was taken to this island for "quiet contemplation" for a month!!! *eek* *nono*

Which led me to thinking - what if a number of monks were caught having a quiet bash how did they all fit in the tiny room? *confused*

And if the same rules applied to a certain hotel in Usk they'd need an island the size of Malta to fit the wrong-doers on! *tongue* *wink* *wavey*
