rj
The Turbo Technics kits are very well made. Unfortunately the location of the supercharger will make it interfere with the upper LH chassis diagonal.
Irrelevant
interfere with the upper LH chassis diagonal That's no excuse for not using forced induction . . . just get the mounts for a removeable diagonal fitted to the chassis and then fabricate a bespoke removeable diagonal that goes either side of the supercharger. rj
Adam, I would not want anything but a straight member there. As soon as it's curved it's lost the majority of it's stiffness. No, if it was me I'd move the supercharger!
simonbell
The chassis diagonals have been removed in the new chassis and replaced by small 45 degree diagonals in front of the footwells........like on a Westfield Simon Bell - Caterham 7 Duratec R I`ve seen the future.....and it`s powered by duratec Check out the website here
Irrelevant
RJ: I meant put a curved diagonal either side, running parallel to each other . . . I'm sure it would be fine. Afterall, it's a common design for strut braces that have to go either side of something. No, if it was me I'd move the supercharger! Yep, so would I . . . move it straight into the bin and fit a turbo 😬
rj
Simon, Still the diagonals are not curved. I am not clever enough to tell what the design does to the stiffness, but the new chassis is claimed to be stiffer than the old one. Adam, I'd love a supercharged Seven as much as I'd hate a turbocharged... However, if the diagonal setup was made as a rectangle with triangular ends - a bit like how the lower diagonals are made, at least on my car, it may work. Otherwise I wouldn't do it. /r
Grubbster
Auction ended with no bids I thought someone may have taken a punt and put in a low bid.
