4ster
Just spoken to Kumho Motorsport and they are out of 215 x 13 in soft (K20) compound. No more expected until September so don’t go abusing them on a trackday or driving over sharp objects. For fellow class 4 chaps (especially Neil & Martin): They have plenty hard compound 215s available and I am assured that these are just as sticky. So fit these and your times will tumble – honest! 😬 Paul Forster, Class 3 reject!
Martin S.
So why have you been talking to Kumho eh Paul....come on spill the beans Incidentally I've noticed a band around the outside edge of one of my tyres that's turned blue 😳 I presume it's just an effect of it getting a bit on the warm side I was hoping to get at least a season out of the Kumho's. The soft R888's will hopefully be out soon anyway.
david nelson
The soft Toyos are already out. SG is the compound. Not had time to try any yet. David
4ster
Beans! What beans Martin? Well, since you ask, I was just wondering how the car would handle with 215s on the front as well, so thought it might be interesting to get a couple of spares and have a few laps of Mallory. That cunning plan is now dead - so back to the drawing board Paul Forster, Class 3 reject!
Petrolhead
How do the Kumho compare to CR500s? NE7Club Web Site R5 no 65 😬 Trackday 2nd April

Mark Durrant
How do the Kumho compare to CR500s It depends on what you intend to use them for and the compound. In the soft compound they are a match for the soft compound ACB10's but are at half the price and do not require you to change to a crossply set up. These are now the tyre of chjoice in classes 3-5 of the clubs speed championship. These tyres give more grip than a CR500 once warm. For trackdays the medium compound are being used by a few people and are getting good reviews. When my radial slicks finally wear out I will probably switch to these on the grounds of cost. Not sure how they compare to a CR500 but they are half the price. As a general use road tyre I think the soft would probably wear too quickly and as the tread depth is around 4mm to start with I'm not sure how long they would remain road legal. I currently use Toyo R888's for the road and will stick with these for the time being. Hope that helps Mark D Comp Sec

Simon.Rogers1
FYI I went for a run out on Sunday without changing from the softs. I did about 12 miles and didn't push it at all. Mainly straight down the road. We got back and the tyres were like a soft putty. Small stones were completely embeded into the rubber 😶🌫️ 😶🌫️ 😶🌫️ *thumbup*
Petrolhead
So maybe the medium may be a better bet? NE7Club Web Site R5 no 65 😬 Trackday 2nd April
Simon.Rogers1
Definately for trackdays. I have a set that have done two hard days and they are fine wear wise. Unfortunately there are no 215 mediums in the country only hard. What bhp and how hard do you drive? As if you have big power I would suggest medium fronts and hard rears as they will warm up well. Irrelevant
Simon.Rogers: Any idea where I could find a list of the available sizes? Can't find anything on Kumho's website, only a thing where you put a size in and it tells you of they do it or not. . . not much use when 13/14/15" are all options.
