Apollo Oil Pressure

The pressure does drop slightly when an Apollo is fitted. When hot, pressure at idle should be around 2 bar (30 psi) and at revs around 4 bar (60 psi). I wouldn't worry unless at idle it drops to 25psi or lower.

My 1.8SS with an Apollo runs about 3.75 - 4 bar hot and the needle flicks between 1 and 2 bar at tickover....

I think I'll change the sender at the next oil change, it's only done 7000 miles.

Sounds like mine was before I went to a mech gauge.

Just above red on idle and about two bar tops when running.

Mech gauge shows 65 psi cold idle. Never got that before (apart from when the sender was new).

Dave,

The senders can fail in a number of different ways including over and under reading. Best option by far is a mechanical set up. I had wierd pressure readings before making the swap.

If it's running ok, not using fluids then almost certainly nothing to worry about.

If you want a reliable oil pressure reading recommend you ditch the CC set up.

replacing the sender may provide a fix, but its also likely to go faulty again

Just do a search - you will see how many threads on this.

Much better solution is a mechanical gauge, and capillary pipe set up- obtainable from Think Automotive. Or if you have loadsa money SPA

I have had my car for just over a year now and at tick over it is just above red, but 3-3.5 when hot and full beans. It has always been like this too. I will contact cc and listen to what they say, as I might need a replacement. The mechanical route sounds like what I need to do too.
