Edzup Ezzer
Having determined the cause of my non functioning speedo - the 90 deg spur drive that screws onto the gearbox has 'failed' - I presume I can get one from a Ford dealer? If so what gearbox does one refer to? Car is a 1.6 K.
Taran Las
Ezzer, I called caterham regarding a new 90 degree drive. They told me the type I needed (91 DD) was discontinued. A new type was available at £40 and a new cable at £20. If you have the new one then a cable wont be required. See previous thread regarding 90 degree speedo drive. Regards Phil Owen. Edzup Ezzer
Phil, Have spoken to Speedy Cables in Swansea who can manufacture a 90deg angle drive for a type 9 Ford gearbox for c£35 + VAT + P&P. I need to fax a drawing to make sure it will fit (that'll test my drawing skills!) Ezzer
Nigel Riches
Ezzer the 90 deg drive is a V.D.O. component from earlier V.W. golf and polo cars, may pay to have trip to a breakers yard, may still need the steel plate to be attached at the gearbox end of the thing, shouldn't be 40 quid though, have fun Nigel.
