Simple wiring question

I've got to wire up a timing transponder. It just has two wires - red and black. The black is easy, I can just attach it to any convenient earth. What should I do with the red? It needs to be on when the ignition is on, and fused, and should be cut off when the ignition is off and when the battery master switch is turned off. Where's the best place to wire it to? I'm a total dumbo with wiring. I think it's a very low current device.

Ashaughnessy, You can take power from the free pin at the ignition switch. You will have power on the transponder when the ignition key is at the first position ( on a tin top this is used for the radio )

If you want it to be fuse'ed just put a floating fuse in the power supply witch goes to the transponder.
