Robin C
Here we go...Wheels again!!! Much has been written about wheel diameters and tyre combinations but less has been said about wheel widths. Assuming the majority agree on fitting 13" diameter wheels as the best, what are the best widths. Caterham seem to offer 6" all round until you get up to Big BHP cars but many who bought wheels through Robert Morris (see archives) opted for 6" front and 7" rears. Can anyone expalain the merits of this setup? My car currently has 140 BHP and may in the future be pushed up to 160 - should I go for 7" wheels or stick to 6"
Robin Renton
I've got 13 x 6 wheels, but have 185 tyres on the front and 205 on the back which gives me a better balance than 185 all round.
Rob Walker
6" will be plenty wide enough. As Robin posted 185/205 is a popular combination. Or ACB 10`s. If you go above 7" you run into problems with clearance on RARB if you run the standard offsets.
