MartinWoodham
I've fixed a very very small leak in mine (pinhole, due to a stone chip 😳) with a skim of chemical metal then sticking an ali plate on top. Added benefit of protection against the same happening again. This was a tiny hole though.... does yours need welding? Martin Aero'd supersported ex-Roadsports B...anyone got a cheap LSD? Harry Flatters
I would take Martins tip. Just make sure there is no fuel around the hole when you apply the chemical metal and key the surface up with some medium grit paper. Should be a nice quick job . *arrowright*Harry Flatters *arrowright* AKA Steve Mell - Surrey AO and Su77on Se7ener
MartinWoodham
go for it. Mine's been solid for over a year now. hole was so small that there was only a tiny weep coming from it. Drain the tank to below the hole. (pull the tank return pipe off the fuel pressure regulator and stick the end of it in a jerry can - run the engine and the fuel pump pumps all the fuel out, is the easiest way) As Steve says make sure it's not got any fuel around the hole - I wiped with white spirit and then wiped it dry, plus left it standing for an hour or so to make sure everything had evaporated. Irrelevant
IMO, JB Weld would be the best type of widely available chemical metal for this sort of job . . . .. available at Halfords too.
