Ital Wheel bearings

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of changing the hub oil seals in my Ital Diff (and probably the bearings at the same time as it is not a job I want to do again!). The bearings are sandwiched between an inner and an outer oil seal. My question is that as there are two oil seals..does the bearing run on grease, or does the inner oil seal allow diff oil to get through to the bearing???

Incidentally, anyone trying to do this job...the hubs/bearing is pressed onto the half shaft. Changing the oil seal requires the hub to be pressed off which is way beyond a normal 'puller'...hydraulic press required so ask a friendly machine shop to help.
