bolt/thread type: bellhjousing bolts for FlowTech 4sp case

Hello, everyone !

Just a quick one.

What size and type thread are the bellhousing-attaching threads in a FlowTech 4sp 'rocket' gearbox case ?

Are they the same as in older Ford cortina gearboxes ?

If not (though they seemed to be): does any company make bullet-proof thread inserts for the size needed ?

Cheers - Karsten

PS.: Luvvly, even a typo in the headline, which is un-editable ... Sorry !

Should be either a "UNC" (old cortina box) or metric coarse, which will probably be a 2mm pitch on the diameter of bolt that is used.

I think the rocket box is probably metric. It made its first appearance in German/Belgian built Mk 3 Cortinas and Mk 1 RS2000s.

You can use either helicoils of timeserts. There is some debate as to which are the best.

You will need a tap and fitting kit with either type.
