S-type Mods

Just thought I'd post this in case anybody else has had problems.

As previously documented, early new style S-type seats can break at the angle. I've also found them a bit high so that you feel perched on the car.

I've put a shaped piece of wood behind the seat and it suddenly feels so much more solid and doesn't feel at all bendy now. By covering the wood with black tank tape, it doesn't look too out of place at all.

Then I lifted the foam off the plastic seat base and cut about 15mm of it's thickness away from the flat rear section of the foam. This has helped lower me in the car a bit and also outs the lumbar support relatively a bit higher. All in all, a good weekends seat modifying!

I broke a seat exactly where you said. It was as a result of some seriously high flying at the time, having just misjudged a hump backed bridge.

I think these seats only break if you're a fat knacker sitting in them. Guilty as charged your honour. {;)]
