Bricol
i ssem to recall seeing a thread here a while ago abour knocking coming form the rear suspension. My new de-dion only seemed to "clonk" from the near side - kept checking and nothing loose or moving. Dangled it from the crane in work today to check g/box and diff oil levels (noises are annoying me and wondered about levels - all ok!) and removed wheels. Looking at top redaius arm on nearside (I have it in the "comfort" position), it was marked behind the brake caliper - seems the caliper hits the arm on large deflection - its chipped the powder coating and is marking the steel. Looking at the clearances between arm and caliper, on the nearside its about 3mm ((1/8" to real measurists!) and on the offside its double - yet the arms are parallel, the de-dion is centered - hmmm. I'll have a further look to see if i can sort it, otherwise I'll avoid big bumps. Just in-case anyone else is getting the same "clonk". mav
My clonk was due to a faulty damper on the rear near side. Took Cat mids a couple of day to sort it out, once they had found it.
