Andrew Russell
Boing. Can't anybody help here? I have just priced a new one at Caterham and at £65.00 plus Vat, they seem a little pricey.... I understand that they are also in short supply. I have seen VDO guages advertised elsewhere at Europa and Merlin for about £35.00. Are these the same as the OE ones? Anybody any experience/help. Thanks. Andrew
Harry Flatters
Andrew, I may have a VDO one that will do the job. I'm not certain that the face is absolutely identical but it'll be pretty damn close. The main difference from the original gauge is it's fixing method. Instead of a "U" clamp with a couple of nuts, the actual body of the gauge is threaded and there is an outer sleeve that screws over this thread. Let me know if you are interested. Andrew Russell
Steve, Thanks! Is there room to fit the screw fit guage on a seven? Are the connections all the same, do you know? What sort of condition is it in and at what price? I presume that it is black faced and bezelled.... Andrew
Harry Flatters
Answers: - should fit OK - gauge body is no larger tha normal and the sleeve is only anout 1.5mm thick - connections - electrically the same - physically? - I'll have to check - Brand new - perfect condition - Black face black bezel (square profile) - Say £25 Steve Mell PTM
Andrew Russell
Steve, Thanks for that info....sounds good to me! Connections are an earth, a live, and a connection to the sender, plus, of course the bulb holder illumination. How can we sort out payment/delivery? Andrew Russell
Steve, Box has arrived safely at my home...Hope the cheque has! Thanks again! Looks like I'll be getting a stiff neck tonight grovelling under the dash! Andrew
Harry Flatters
Andrew, Cheque arrived - hope it all goes together. One thing I meant to mention was that there was no panel light bulb. I think it is the standard push-fit type available from your friendly local car spares shop!! Best regards Steve Steve Mell PTM
Andrew Russell
Steve, Guage in and working a treat! I noticed the lack of bulb before it all went together and luckily had one in stock. Thanks again. Andrew
