Neil_K
Are there two types of 6 speed box available? A performance and touring one?

Neil_K
OK, cos 60-70mph on the M25 yesterday in 6th was at 4,500 rpm!
Graham King
Neil, I would guess you have the 3.92 diff ratio, with 14" wheels that would equate to about 4100 RPM at 70MPH, if 13" then 4250 RPM at 70MPH, allowing for the speedo and tacho over-reading probably equates to what you experienced. Motorway driving is a bit tiresome with the 6 speed box (IMO) but then I guess it wan't built for that it was designed to keep a K-Series engine in the powerband. I think the touring option is the 3.62 diff and performance is the 3.92. Graham. R7 GPK Superlight #
Pelico
I have the same diff / gearbox and with 13'' wheels with shallow CR500 tyres It is very tiresome on the motorway. You could mess with your wheel/tyre comination to help a bit e.g. 15'' wheels or 021s on 13''. A different diff would help more. But for trackdays / blatting it is fine. Neil_K
How does it cope with a 5 hour motorway trip?
Pelico
I've certainly done plenty of long trips to and from trackdays......but it is perhaps telling that I have also just bought a trailer for this season !!!!
LazerBrain
I've got the 6 speed box with 3.92 diff and 14" A048s. If I'm going to be on a motorway for any distance I put the earplugs in. cheers, Darren.
Sheds Moderator
I'm sure tha car copes perfectly well over 5 hours on the M way. Your ears won't though.
