Alex Birtwisle
I have a feeling that the near side rear damper has stopped doing what it is meant to do - the car feels soft on one side. Does anyone know how much one costs (de dion rear end)? And how easy is it to fit? Had a nose under the wheel arch and the top linkage looks "interesting" to get at..... Cheers Alex
clarkey
Not sure how much they cost, but it is easy to get to - remove the seat, unscrew the little access panel, undo with an allen key. Bottom is just as easy.
Alex Birtwisle
Excellent - Can I get hold of the standard damper assembly from anywhere other than Caterham - would Demon Tweaks sell such an item?
Rob Walker
Dampers are about £100 per unit. Its possible to have them checked /rebuilt by Prodrive but this is almost as expensive as buying new. The Caterham Bilsteins have specific damping rates specified by Caterham so I doub`t you will source them anywhere else. Let me know if you do. elie boone
If you have a 97' model, than the allen bolt is behind the seat belt, no need to take the seat out. easy'est way is to fit the lower bolt first and then the upper one.
Lennie
A word of advice NEVER replace just one damper.
