911 Carrera RS For Sale.....

Recommended Posts

After just over 3 years of owning this fabulous, fabulous car I feel that it may well be time to move on to something different.....

The car is a 1992 964 Carrera RS Lightweight and is finished in guards red with a black standard lightweight recaro SPG interior. The car is LHD, obviously.

I bought the car in 2003 and subjected it to a £15000 body and mechanics overhaul at messers Autofarm (who incedentally are simply superb). This was done to fulfil a teenage dream to own a "new" Carrera RS and certainly taking delivery of the car after completion was a great experience and felt like a timewarp! The car has done around 5000km since this and is in perfect cosmetic and mechanical condition save for two or three tiny stonechips on the bonnet which will be taken care of before sale. The Autofarm works are fully documented and photographed into a presentation folder.

Total mileage is now just 49000 km and is backed up by an excellent service record. (This super low mileage was my main motivation for purchase, incedentally)

A £600 mechanical service and pre season checkover has just been carried out by Porsche specialist JMH and the car's first outing of the year was at Oulton yesterday where it demonstrated its usual incredible dynamic ability. The car has done just 5 track days since the rebuild so please don't get the idea that this is a thrashed wreck - it is an immaculate car in absolutely every respect and would not look out of place in a concourse line up. (I am not a member of the "cover up your numberplate" brigade at track days and I make no excuses for taking this car on the circuit where it belongs! Frankly anyone who tells you their 964RS has "never been on the track" is either a) lying or b) stupid and I don't think you want to buy a car from a person who fits either category!)

Currently the car is rolling on a set of BBS Magnesium race wheels which make the car easier for me to handle; and it also means the original "Magnesium Cup" wheels have not rolled since their full shot blast/rebake process was carried out (ie they are unmarked!) I would be interested in selling the BBS mags with the car by negotiation but they were the thick end of £4000 so it certainly would be a bone of contention.

From a price perspective I would be interested in accepting a sensible offer for the car based on current market value.

The car currently wears the registration 911 JU which is not included in the sale (and isn't much use unless your name is similar to mine!)

Cheers,

Julian.

Ju, firstly ☹️

...unless you're going to buy another 7...

...make sure you stick it on PH - and Paul McLean at GT Classics would SOR it for you - I am sure it's a nice example, given your prediliction for throwing big money at your toys 😬

I'll open the bidding at £22k....

Yes that's the one Meaden is running - except mine is a lot more shiny and new looking *wink*

Hi Mark - My name's not Father Xmas you know (22k) 😬

I think from what I've seen the RS market seems to start at about 25k and extend up to advertised prices at 40k for a perfect Silver coloured car. Whether they're making those figures is obviously not something I know but certainly I'd put my car up against anything in terms of condition so it will need to be a sensible figure to make me part company.

If anyone would like some photo's etc... drop me a mail.

Anyway, not sure what I shall get next but there is a Radical brochure sat on my desk *confused*

Julian,

I put this link on the PCGB Forum.

If I was you, I'd speak to the 964RS Reg Sec at PCGB and get an accurate guide to price and any other selling advice. He'll know the serious buyers.

You want to avoid dreamers and tyre kickers.

I can find the details if you need them.

Thanks Mike

That would be great. To be honest I have about 4 people now lined up for it so I have pulled the pistonheads advert.

I have to say that everyone, without exception, who has emailed me or enquired about the car have been really polite, nice individuals - amazing as normally when you sell a car you get a raft of clowns. Maybe it's just that kind of car that attracts good people!

We'll see what happens but those secretary details would be excellent if you've got them.

I just sold my 964rs to GT Classics. It was bigger mileage than yours, also having had a lot of work done; it was also running 9M Motec plus one conversion which, to be honest, probably dents price to average punter but makes it plenty quicker.

Drop me an email if you fancy war stories.

The car has not been used and now its "finished" and without stone chip etc I have fallen into the too much emotion into the car trap...

Its just that I have alwas wanted a 911, and 964 RS is just what I have always wanted - not a 996 type (even if I had that amount of money).

I also know how much attention you have spent making yours first class ( as with V11UFO)

Anthony

I think you'll find this RS is worth a fair bit more than most used 996s *tongue*

Have to say I'm kind of sitting on my hands right now - looks a stunning car: I had one about 7 years ago and it was one of the best cars I've ever owned.....would be nice sharing garage space with my 2.7RS to *cool*

We're all as daft as brushes. I spend years getting the RS right - and then guess what? I put it up for sale. *confused*

Anthony spends years building an ultimate 7 and then, before he uses it - offers it for part exchange for the Porsche..... *eek*

Meanwhile, Paul has the ultimate Porsche already but, hey, why not get another..... 😬

Mad - the lot of us!
