Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 15, 2007 Area Representative Share Posted February 15, 2007 I'm looking to replace the bolts on my cycle wings. I saw a 7 some time ago with some rather smart anodised bolts which had large anodised cup washers and also rubber washers. I've tried to locate something on the interweb, but no luck. I thought that motorcycle spares suppliers may have been the answer. Big head fasteners are not an option as the wings already have 5 mm holes in them. Any suggestions as to something suitable. Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 15, 2007 Author Area Representative Share Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks Nick, but they don't have what I want. I've recently bought some nice black alloy nuts bolts and cap washers from them, but the heads have only a narrow diameter. The search continues. Paul Richards Area Representative - L.A.D.S. Foxy Smith
I think your answer might lie in a motorcycle shop. I'm told (but don't know personally) that the fasteners used to fit the fairings on some bikes are just what is needed.
andy couchman
I got mine from Braided Steel near Moreton-in-Marsh. They are (motor) bike people who do car stuff too. very helpful and often go to shows. Recommended. You can get a range of anodised bolts to suit your purpose. Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 16, 2007 Author Area Representative Share Posted February 16, 2007 Thanks Guys I've managed to get hold of some stainless dome headed bolts similar to James Whitings. They'll do for now. I guess I'll add them to my Stoneleigh shopping list. Paul Richards Area Representative - L.A.D.S. Area Representative Paul Richards Posted February 16, 2007 Author Area Representative Share Posted February 16, 2007 Thanks NickA, but Nickh7 recommended them also, and I'd already tried them and they didn't have quite what I was after.
