Peter G
Our 1996 Rover 214 Si 16v failed the MOT on Saturday, due to emissions being way over, tester thought it may be the Lambda sensor, what I need to know is whether the sensor on the Caterham (1.6 Roadsport 2000 model year) is the same and would fit, to see whether it is this that has failed. I'm reluctant to spend money on investigating the cause of the failure, as the Rover isn't worth a lot, and we're selling it as soon as we have 12 months MOT, I just need to get it off my drive! Thanks Toe down, nose up the windscreen!
rj
If the Caterham is EU2, then it ought to be a straight swap.
Peter G
No, Caterham is EU3, not sure what EU the Rover is, I'm a bit lost on all this to be honest, just want to get the car running, for minimum cost. rj
At that age the Rover will be EU2. I think you can still use the same sensor, but the connectors will be different. /r

Peter G
I will take care, local Rover garage just confirmed I can do a swap, but as they're over £100 each, I don't want any breakages Toe down, nose up the windscreen! Sheds Moderator
A generic lambda will be about £40, I think your Rover dealer is a bit overpriced. Dealer bits etc. I'd take it to an independent with a decent test rig and the knowledge to use it.
