graham bass
There appears to be 2 different outer rims for the superlight R 5 spoke split rims. I have a set of five (3 front 2 back) but one of the front wheels has a different sized rolled edge to the other 2. I wouldn't normally bother after all 1 is a spare but the better 2 rims happen to be the two different types the other is damaged but not terminal. Are these still available/does anyone know of anyone likely to have a spare kicking around? Graham
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 29, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted January 29, 2007 Mine also vary slightly - particularly where the rolled section returns to the rim - the gap varies. I have a spare front also, if you can mail me a photo of the differences I'll check to see whether my spare is any use? Stu.
NigelJ
Last year I tried to get a new set of bolts for mine and contacted the makers whose name I seem to have lost. They told me that they no longer make any parts for these wheels. Cheers NigelJ
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 29, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted January 29, 2007 The rims were made by KN Wheels. I've now moved into the fortunate position of having 2 sets of 4, plus a spare front, 8 with centre caps! I'm trying to retain as much original kit as possible for my SLR so a few spare rims is a good idea! Stu.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 29, 2007 Leadership Team Share Posted January 29, 2007 Nigel - if you do a search on ebay there's often stainless rim bolts available. IIRC they're all M7 and available in 32mm or 40mm long. Or Mike Barmby has them. Stu.
