Supersport engine idling at 2000+rpm - help!

An engine cant rev to 2000 without air, it will be coming in via a leak, a sticky throttle or the IACV.

To test if it is a leak, with it idling at 2000 take off the airfiler and block the TB entry with your hand, if the engine stops then the air is coming via the TB entry and could be the TB or the IACV. If the engine still runs (albeit slowly) then it is an airleak. If the engine stops, start it again and this time picnh the IACV hose until it is effectively closed, if the engine stops then it is coming via the IACV, either because it is stuck or because the ECU is confused over something.

Ernie,

Mine's done this a couple of times.

The first time I simply reset the ECU and it disappeared.

the second time this method didn't work, I looked at everthing I could think of and drew a blank ... it then stopped doing it of it's own accord *confused* *confused*

Keep off the straight and narrow *tongue* 😬
