Mark w
I was wondering why anyone would need a submariner watch and then i saw you lived on the Isle of Wight. Ferry service poor recently ?? 😬
ziplobb
Wightskipper - methinks u are a fine one to talk - the 'bling' version sir ? Little Bob
I presume you have seen the light and are replacing it with its big brother - the 'Dweller?

ziplobb
probably a bi-metal sub but i will have a look around and see what i can get Wightblat 07 Wight7s is where it at - don't be square be there for the blat
Mark Piper
Interested to know what you were offered in partex- I was offered £1400 against a Daytona recently - way short of £2k! Can't see why anyone would replace a subbie for any of the other watches listed, especially since Dwellers secondhand never held their value as well as the subbie
ziplobb
have not gone down that road as there is no where locally that does that and i am 'uncomfortable' doing that kind of thing by post with someone i do not know - I have always sold successfully privately before and therefore realised a bit more - but £1400 seems to cheap for yours especially against a Daytona - thats a £5k watch ? I have been offered £1800 by someone locally who would have just shifted it to Kayes or somewhere - the prices seem to vary a lot but Ebay seems a pretty good indicaor or what stuff will sell for Wightblat 07 Wight7s is where it at - don't be square be there for the blat
Peter T
I have a bi metal sub which could be up for sale. R500 Mango Madness

Mike C.
Bi-metallic Submariner with blue dial is nice looking. Also like Explorer II with white dial. But, what's the current going rate for a decent, late, s/s Daytona ? (I know they retail at £4k but dealers put them on ebay for £5-6k) Mad Manx
Wingnonut
£5-6k is about right for a new Daytona without the wait. Seadweller is is the same size as a Subbie and Mark P you wouldn't be saying that if you owned a "Double Red" Seadweller W.Nut . R500MATT
I put my name down at every Rolex agent in the uk for a SS Daytona 10 years ago.............i have only bought one watch!
Mike C.
Sell the next one for NtL. I'll make a decent bid 😬 Mad Manx
Mark Piper
The Daytona is £7k for a new steel one - £6k for secondhand one from a dealer - I know - I checked this out recently. The wait has dropped to around 3 years too. If someone can really pick me up a s/h one with box and papers for £4k I'll give them a 5% finder's fee Seadweller is indeed the same dimensions as a subbie - I'd prefer a '69 subbie to a double red tbh Richard, as you know, real afficionados perfer Pateks in any case
Mike C.
Mark I don't think that's correct. A new s/s Daytona (116520) lists at around £3,900 and the bi-metallic one (116523) lists at around £5,900. Bi-metallics don't command a premium, but the s/s models are being sold by specialist dealers for £5-6k How can s/s be worth more than gold Mad Manx
Mark Piper
Mike, if you are correct then I am absolutey gobsmacked! Where did you get those prices from?...but it does explain why the secondhand ss price was close to the new price I was quoted....the waiting list is what is pushing the prices up I suppose? DSL
SS daytona £4050 list price, quoting delivery in 2011 from my local dealer.
R500MATT
That is true, £4K list for a stainless model.................they fetch bigger premiums in Italy than in the uk.........I bought a brand new 18ct gold Sub for £9K against a list of circa 12.5K, seemed better value!! Little Bob
The Sea Dweller and Sub date cases are indeed the same (apart from the SD having the HRV which the Sub doesn't). But the crystal is thicker as well as the case back - making an SD around 2mm taller than a Sub. After all the SD is waterproof to a depth of 4000ft compared to the subs 1000ft... ziplobb
yep i had heard that the Daytona list price was a fair bit lower than the prices being asked at dealers someone offered me the Tudor equivalent of the daytona a while back for £1100 quid - not sure what the actual difference is apart fom the name Wightblat 07 Wight7s is where it at - don't be square be there for the blat
R500MATT
If you want the S/S Daytona look without the waiting list, buy a white gold one!!!!!
Wile7
Bi metal sub (black face - blue is nicer IMO), normal sub, the 50th anniversary edition and white faced Daytona all in stock in a jewellers in Perpignan.....and prices seem to be a bit cheaper too. €2850 for a date subbie IIRC? Is that good? I can find out the rest if you wish. Back down there this weekend Dave Ardley. White Xflow with Clams Don't point that beard at me, it might go off.
