upside down shocks

Am I right in thinking that normal way up is with the springs at the top ? Cos thats what I did when I built my car ? If so then surely turning them round and having the spring at the suspended end increases unsprung weight ?

If the dampers are of the De Carbon gas pressurised type IE they have a floating seal within they are suitable to invert . If not the shock will aereate and the damping will be non existent. This idea originated from motorcycle manufacturers as a way of reducing unsprung weight. **** factor 10 points

I would hesitate before putting non-invertable dampers on a Seven at the front. Because the installation angle is so shallow (particularly with widetrack), when you take accoutn of cornering forces with sticky tyres, the inboard damper feels as if it is running horizontally.

Chelspeed,

I thought the idea that the springs would be up the other end and therefore add to the unsprung mass was sniggerworthy...
