CageyH
Anybody know where I can get one from? Only dead fish go with the flow....
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 26, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted December 26, 2006 Contact Banner themselves on 01889 571100 - they'll give you details of a local supplier Stu.
tiddy1
don't get a banner, they are rubish, get a gel batary such as the hawker 680, they are about £70 from Bristol bateries Simon
CageyH
Thanks Simon. Will do. I think I killed my perfectly good banner by almost flattening it. Is the hawker 680 fit in the same size tray? Only dead fish go with the flow....
mav
don't get a banner, they are rubish What utter tosh. My original banner was changed a couple of months back after 5 year faultless service. I replaced it with another of the same type and brand.
Sheds Moderator
Dunno Mav, I replaced one Banner and it died very shortly afterwards (as in within 2 months)- dead cell. The replacement has been OK but I had to pay 2 lots of PnP to Caterham Cars.
Rob Walker
You have been unlucky , that can happen with any battery
Frying Pan
I agree with Mav - the Banner seems to get a lot of stick, but they seem pretty robust to me. I let mine dry out to the extent that it took almost a full 750ml bottle f de-ionised water to refill it, but it seems to have made a full recovery after being re-charged on a proper (expensive!) charger. I did buy a replacement just in case, but the original seems absolutely fine. Guy See some pictures of the build here. 11000 miles completed! CageyH
Well, cleaned up all the leads etc. Took it for a blast and everything is charging. Left it over night off the conditioner and 12.7 Volts at the battery, dropping to 10.something while cranking. I think it is ok. May just be the starter starting to play up, but I have a spare anyway Only dead fish go with the flow....
Sheds Moderator
12.7 after standing overnight and holding 10 under cranking is healthy enough. A dead cell will see the cranking volts drop to 4 or 5. ☹️
CageyH
Which is what I thought Probably the starter motor then. Only dead fish go with the flow....
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 26, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted December 26, 2006 The last Banner I bought was still going strong after more than 5 years - I always use an Optimate though Stu.
