Converting 1.4K to 1.8K

Hi there,

 

What is is required to swap a 1.4K with a 1.8K from the MGF or Elise? What are the likely costs of doing the conversion?

I have been planning to do the same with my 1.4SS.

 

Would I be better to get a whole 1.8 K and fitting that or to do it the conversion way?

I don't fancy any of this engine crane lark, so when I eventually get round to it, I'm going to give Dave Andrews a call and see if he can sort me out a 1.8VVC lump and do interesting things for me.

 

...unless there is a few of us that fancy learning together? I'd be game to DIY if I wasn't alone in making the mistakes ;)

Hi,

 

Don't forget to grind the side of the block so that the starter motor can fit - its a pain to pull the engine again if you didn't know 😳
