olij
My oil pressure warning light has recently started coming on when the ignition is primed (engine/car stationary) and engine cold. Also, when under heavy braking it comes on, although not consistently. I suspect that the sender is knackered but would like to check with others about the light coming on with ignition primed - is it supposed to, to check the bulb works or something? Cheers Oli
Peter Carmichael
An oil pressure light is non-standard fitment for K-series cars of '96 on vintage. You are supposed to get by with the pressure gauge. What light are you talking about? What is the gauge showing?
olij
the car's a 93 1400 supersport race. It has a large very bright orange light in the middle of the dash. the light coming on is linked to the sometimes low pressure reading on the guage under heavy breaking - oil surge I presume but it seems a bit sensitive to me and has only recently started doing it. normal oil press is about 2 and 4 bar when warm idle/rev. oli
Mike Bees
I'd expect the light to come on when the ignition is on & the engine isn't running - there won't be any oil pressure! Mike Edited by - Mike Bees on 14 Mar 2002 12:35:
olij
Thats what you'd think isn't it! just puzzled as to why it has started doing it all of a sudden and intermitently.
