silver-7
suggest you make a claim on the insurance. my R300s had two windscreens, you should only have to pay the excess of about £60. You get the complete windscreen including the metal frame surround, its very easy to fit Alex
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted December 5, 2006 Area Representative Share Posted December 5, 2006 RR, That hasn't lasted long ☹️ Have you cracked it fitting your hood or the aeroscreen? Nick Now the Orange HPC - A 2.0 VX - 😬
Rapid Response
Yeh, I didn't realise until after fitting the hood, there was a stone chip in the right hand corner of the screen and the pressure from the hood the next day, cracked it.... Does the windscreen cover effect any insurance claims in the future? Thanks....
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 5, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted December 5, 2006 Put it this way ...... We recently tried to shop around to get a better premium for our 5-vehicle work fleet. A number of insurers wouldn't even quote, stating a "bad claims history" - 3 claims in 5 years, approx £1200 of chassis impact damage on our van, plus 2 windscreens on cars. We pushed it a little and we were told that "a claim is a claim, not interested"! Obviously we stayed with our existing cover. If you claim for a screen, you'll pay for it eventually whether it be on the 7 policy or on another vehicle. A recently bought a s/h back-up screen exactly for this reason. When you knock off the £60 excess, IMO the screen isn't so expensive that it's worth suffering increased premiums on other policies 🤔 Keep your claims history clean for a bigger problem Stu. silver-7
like all insurances they always get you somehow my Caterham insurance gives you the choice of either track day cover or windscreen
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 5, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted December 5, 2006 either track day cover or windscreen Slight difference in the cost/benefit analysis then 😳 Mine's the same (EG) and if spending any time on track the decision is a complete no-brainer! New screen = £310 Excess = £60 Additional cost of not claiming therefore £250. Effect on future premiums (all insurers) = probably a lot more than £240! Stu. silver-7
just looked at my renewal its due before xmas ☹️ ☹️ ☹️ choice is Trackday - four free days or Glass cover extra track days at £40 each seems quite a good deal cover by THB - Caterham

Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted December 6, 2006 Leadership Team Share Posted December 6, 2006 We'll keep it at the top then, something will turn up soon Can I suggest you add a link in Chitchat or Techtalk (some members never visit this section!) and change the title to drop the R300 bit - most non-SV heated screens are fine! Good luck! Stu.
