Oil filter mounting

On a K series, is this a rover part or is this specific Caterham ?

Am having trouble solving oil leaks from mine and have come to the conclusion I need to try a new one assuming its not expensive.

Bizarrely it was fine before I removed the apollo tank/take off. Now its leaking but I don't know if its the drain plug, the mounting face or even the pressure gauge take off. It won't do it at tick over but after a blat there is oil spread liberally all over the area.....

Are you sure it is coming from the oil filter mounting? I had an oil leak earlier in the year which was only evident after driving - the oil filter and pressure sensor would be covered in oil. In the end I found it was the apollo leaking. It is mounted in front and presumably oil was being blown back whilst driving. Only mention it as you said you'd removed the apollo.

It's a Rover part but there are several versions with different thread sizes for the pressure sender. It's not expensive - I think it was around £20-£25 when I replaced mine but I can't be sure.

have you taken the apollo off completely or did you refit it?

If you have retitted it did you make sure the pipes clear the block properly, and that it is sitting 'square'?

If so, did you check the seal was intact and undamaged before you refitted?

K series Oil Filter housing part number lpx100510 price was £15.14 when I bought one last year.

  • 2 months later...

Can anyone help with the following (obscure question !);

Whats the thread on the screw/bolt/plug into the topside of the filter mounting ?

The one I've taken off has been bodged (hence the leak) and is clearly larger than the replacement filter mounting I have. Would I get the plug from a Rover dealer ?

thanks
