Old Septimus Posted March 13, 2002 Share Posted March 13, 2002 The seating for the drain plug on my very elderly Xflow is not as good as it used to be and I am not motivated to take off the sump and machine it flat. I have used silicone sealant and hylomar (not at the same time) to make the plug oil-proof with mixed success. Is there anything better available to do the job? The washers I am using are the standard Ford hard nylon jobs. Would something softer or maybe copper be better? Any suggestions gratefully received. stutch Posted March 13, 2002 Share Posted March 13, 2002 How about a Dowty sealing washer or PTFE tape on the plug (less messy than liquid sealants) I might have a few old Dowty's lying around if you can tell me the OD of the plug.
