Gear box and diff oil change

Delberts Wallet

Recommended Posts

Just done the gearbox oil on my quaife internalled type 9 (but I presume its the same for any type 9 based box).

Removed the top cover (8 bolts I think) suck old oil out, pour new oil in (up to refill plug level , 1.5 litres), put top cover back on using a new gasket. easy.

No idea about the diff,sorry.

The plate was no problem on my car (zetec engine), could reach all bolts easily enough.I guess it may be sat a bit further back and hence be a little be difficult to get to on a K car, but I dont know.

We used a hand driven oil pump to suck the oil out, I think yacht chandlers sell them for sucking the oil out of inboard engines on boats. DT do sell one but its a bit expensive (50quid or so).
