Phil
Thinking of swopping to a ZETEC, why not have a new engine change section, specially with the new Raceline offer? I now have the engine and I am preparing to do the swop 😬 Engine comes as it would be prepared to go into Fords intended application, the Ford Focus, so it has all injection manifold and fuel rail on one side and the exhaust manifold on the other, all of this needs to be removed. With the kit comes a box full of bits for the conversion and looks reasonably easy to fit. If you intend to try this conversion please check your chassis has the crossed brace member just under the top of your nose cone as the cars with a straight brace will need modification. First job on the list is to disconnect the battery and remove it from the car, put the bolts back through the wires left to make sure they are going to go back in the correct place later. Next the exhaust, undo from the back end first as it will be easier to remove the box from the pipes this way, then finally the manifold pipes from the block. Next remove the accelerator cable from the carbs, then unbolt the hole carb assembly by removing the inlet manifold from the head. Had a reply from Chris at Raceline. The rocker cover is not touched The front cam cover in black is removed and the plate behind is removed [optional] and trimmed to shape as per instructions supplied with kit. The alloy plate half way down just unbolts, this is removed as it gets in the way of the fan belt, fresh bolts are supplied with the new fan belt pulley kit The lowest part of the cover sits behind the front crank pulley, the pulley needs to be removed to take this cover off then re fitted.  When the Alternator is in place, use a piece of string to measure the distance round the pullies in MM, the belt is ribbed so count the ribs and take a measurement of the width. A QH belt for instance could be QBR5735 [Q =QH] [b=belt] [R=ribs] [5=amount of ribs] [735= length in MM] X/FLOW 1700 DD 1990 ROAD USE ONLY..SO FAR   Edited by - phil on 23 Apr 2007 09:46:28 Edited by - phil on 28 Apr 2007 18:50:12 Edited by - phil on 3 May 2007 00:12:
