I don't know anything at all about it, honest guvnor. Haarlemstraat? Never even heard of it.

No I know nothing whatever about those barges with the gardens on them......or the mysterious denizens of Brauwersgraacht....but I've led a very sheltered life. *wink*

I was there last week- stayed in the NH Kranapolsky hotel on Dam Sqaure with work, then moved out to the Movenpick for the weekend with Michael. NH was OK but noisy at night and the rooms were smoky.

I have to say the Movenpick was superb. Its 7 weeks old, completely non-smoking, very modern, excellent breakfast and the staff were great. We booked through Expedia - about £100 a night (Amsterdam is not really cheap for hotels). Its not bang in the centre but only a short 10 min walk from the Central Station or a two minute tram ride (tram stop right outside) *thumbup*
