13" wheels and CR500's

I have a chance for a set of 13" wheels from CC to replace my 14's

 

However, I will be paying for the tyres so what is the best price I can expect and can they be purchased from anywhere but CC?

It's pretty unlikley you'll get a discount on them so £95 each according to the web site which is about what I paid for my fornts earlier in the year. I believe some people may have got them slightly cheaper from BMTR or even from Cooper Avon direct.

Toyo 13" R888's - better than CR500's and £56 a corner inc VAT fitted at Bracknell Tyres in Berks.

Toyo Proxies are better than CR500's. who told you that then

 

I would agree that R888's are comparable to Yoko 48's, but in the wet, CR500's are just about the best tyre you can have, except for full wet's

I think i was charged £ 81.00 plus VAT the other day at Cat Mid.Best price I could get.

Have you got adjustable platforms on your shocks?

If not, you may find your sump a little close to the ground for comfort.

I assume you have 185/60/14's on now?

Measure your clearance as it is now. I reckon you could lose 40 mm (or is it 20mm?) in ride height. (assuming you have 175/55/13 fitted on the new wheels.)

Toyo Proxes are not the same as Toyo R888's.

 

Toyo Proxes are a low profile road tyre where as Toyo R888's are effectively road legal slicks.

 

Proxes are great in the wet but R888's are not as good and are a dry road/track tyre.

Yeh my mistake, RobM was on about the R888 though, it was me who mentioned the Proxes.

 

But my comments still stand, R888's are not in the same league as Cr500's for wet performance, if they were, a lot of us would save a few £'s
