Bangers quotNquot Mas1697456953
Is it worth fitting a Apollo tank to a dry sumped car? I believe the new R500's have both. TIA Andy Marks VHPD7@aol.com
Peter Carmichael
Only if you are going to exceed 8500 rpm or are a bit lazy about checking your oil levels.

stevefoster
some may say it until they visit a track or even a slalom course like at Brooklands.....
Peter Carmichael
The original question is about the Apollo as a supplement to the dry sump install. This is only required with the highest revving k-series variants under track use where sustained revs >8000 are expected. A high-revving K will be fine with the dry sump alone until you try holding it at 8500 rpm all the way down significant straights. An Apollo tank is a bit of belt and braces reassurance when applied to an already dry sumped engine. By contrast, an Apollo tank on a wet sump K is recommended for any track use. The slalom course at Brooklands is unlikely to cause any significant trouble with or without the Apollo tank.
