Newbie Servicing Questions

I've just got my first 7.

 

Its done 40k miles and been properly serviced every 6000 miles.

 

its a 1.8 K-Series.

 

Can I service this myself? - I've serviced and worked on Rover V8's and other pre-ecu engines in the past.

 

From my Caterham owners manual, I can't see how often the timing belt should be changed.

 

As the car is only going to do a few thousand miles per year, I suppose the service interval will be more time related than mileage.

 

Can anyone give me any pointers?

I'd advise changing the sump foam on an annual basis, irrespective of mileage - others will advise complete removal of the faom, not to be refitted. I replace mine annually and have had no issues so far...

Yes you can service the car yourself.........there is a document somewhere which lists what to check / replace and when. I do mine and normally check everything in the winter and replace all the normal stuff like oil, plugs etc etc.

 

If you need some advice there should be someone at your local areaa meet who can help out.
