Changing rear wheel bearings

Charles, I know budget may be an issue but you can buy the hub carriers already made up with new bearings (got mine from Redline in Caterham). What extra it costs I would say you save in agg swapping the bearings over.

Steve - no, I agree, new carriers with bearings are £44+VAT. I'm trying to work out whether I should just return the replacement bearings I bought to replace the ones in the old carriers, before I realised that they were bent.

£60+VAT now. Does this advice still apply? Was going to replace my rear bearings (as I'm replacing disks) - not sure if I want to spend an extra 80-odd quid. Do the carriers wear out (ie. would I get extra benefit from replacing the whole assembly), or is this simply a saving of hassle?

I have found that the carriers do warp (when they get smacked in a collision that is). You often don't notice at the time. Personally, the rear bearings/carriers are on the list of things that I replace every season.

And the rear bearings on their own aren't cheap.
