NickB7 Posted March 7, 2002 Share Posted March 7, 2002 my 5 speed gearbox sometimes make a "chirruping" noise when changing from third to second. Second is a bit difficult to go into but not really stiif. It is new box and only does it between these 2 gears. Changing gear slowly does not make it happen. EFA Posted March 7, 2002 Share Posted March 7, 2002 5 speed is prone to breaking syncho's if you change down at high revs. No solution but to get it fixed. Quaife make Steel synchro's which are much stronger, but they require gearbox rebuilds every 500 miles to re lap the synchro surfaces! Phil Stewarts the man for gearboxes in the SE, and SPC if you're up norf.
