1700 X-flow - jetting

Recommended Posts

My 1700 X-flow with gas flowed head, large valves, forged pistons, 244 cam ,45 Webers etc., supposed to produce 158 bhp @ 7.200 rpm, has the following jetting:

Choke: 36mm

Main: 135

ET: F16

Air: 160

Idle: 60F6

Pump: 45

Dave Andrews program suggests:

Choke: 37mm

Main: 150

ET: F9/F16

Air: 190

Idle: 45F9

Pump: 35/40

Any comments on these values?

The jetting program gives a get you going idea of whats required and will never be 100% accurate for every engine, from your figures the mains look a little lean and the idles look bonkers.. way to rich, this may be to mask a poor progression due to the progression drillings being inadequate.

Leave the 36mm chokes in.

These are the ideal size for use with the 244 Rally spec. camshaft in a road car. Go any larger and you will certainly lose mid-range torque and power for a possible very (very) small increase at the top end. I speak from experience!
